This song is one of my favorites. It's raw, and honest (which is the basic premise for everything that I write) and it came from a place of not really knowing how to feel OK with so many things in my life, but knowing also that in the midst of everything going on-I still had a song to offer, and needed it to explain the depths of what I felt. When emotions seem too jumbled, and words are less than tangible, somehow I can still break through to a certain point with the gritty reality that pours out when I sing. God is not far from me. With what I believe to be an understanding that reaches beyond man's judgments and even failings, and when I don't know all the answers to life's questions, or what I face day to day looks different than "you". In the moments of writing this song, it felt as though I hit a place that every human comes to. The need to be without explanation - enough.
lyrics
Now tonight, it's taking everything
To hold on tight
And try and get to You
Our love has been a long journey on
A road of casualties and failures gone
Trying to get to You
But You have seen my heart
And You have known my heart
So tonight, let my song
Be enough for You
It's all that I've got
To try and break through
Tonight, let my song
Be enough for you
It's all of my heart
To try and break through
I'm older now, not just a young one trying to
Figure out
Will You be true
I've seen the way that You can hold my heart
Not just in fantasy, but truth in part
of will You be true
And You have seen my heart
And You have known my heart
